Getting ready for work is never easy, and that is the exact reason why I plan my work wardrobe in advance for the whole week, especially with my dress code at work. Day 9 of #MMMay16 features recently finished UFO – black pussy bow blouse and well-known black pencil skirt with a romantic chiffon ruffle on the bottom.

Pattern: for skirt I used FREE Burda Style pencil skirt pattern that you can get here by subscribing to their “Runway to Reality” look book. For the blouse I used this amazing FREE Lottie blouse pattern from Love Sewing Mag. And when I say amazing – I mean it – I have made 3 blouse using this pattern and I am planning to make more. Pattern is well executed, versatile and just perfect for my work days. This skirt pattern is great too and I encourage you to keep it – it is a basic pencil skirt pattern that you can use as a slopper, you can alter it, adjust it and add details on to it. I have omitted the center back seam as I did not see the use for the slit and added a simple gathered chiffon ruffle on a bottom. My style has just a touch of romance 🙂
Fabric: I used black light drape viscose for the blouse that I got at Hancock fabric sale for about $2.50 a yard and black crepe and chiffon for the skirt that I got at Jo Ann’s as a remnant piece.
Skills: intermediate. Blouse and skirt are easy to execute but will require some skills with inserting invisible zipper and executing the bow tie part of the blouse. But all in all a day long project for sewing enthusiast, well worth it!
