December is a few days away and party season is officially ON! Last month of the year always turns out to be busy, therefore I like to be prepared way in a advance in a sense of: gifts, end of the year things to do and… my party dress. So, I don’t have an invitation yet to any party, I don’t even know if I am going to have a day off on December 31st or January 1st, but I felt inspired by this beautiful sea blue/green fabric that I picked up at Jo-Ann’s couple of months ago. This fabric is a little challenging to work with, therefore I decided to go for a simple silhouette and for separates. Separates are so popular and so versatile, especially right now, when closet space and dollar value is a really good topic for me.
So let’s get to it!!!

Fabric: 2 yds of sea blue/green satin for the gathered skirt, and silky print for a shell top
Pattern: self-drafted gathered skirt pattern and a simple shell top pattern
Inspiration: my primary inspiration was this outfit that I made for a wedding that we got invited to this past September.
So my husband said that it looks like a school dance dress… Not sure about that comment. I love the outfit, I think that if I add a cute cardigan, it would be very suitable for a beautiful evening to celebrate Christmas or maybe New Year.
What do you think?
Gorgeous color on you! xx, Britta & Carli from http://twinspiration.co/

Thank you, Brita and Carly for stopping by and for the nice comment, this color is usually difficult to wear 🙂

Claire, sometimes I will sit down and imagine this beautiful dress, or a very sophisticated evening attire, I will even have fabric for it, and then I will put it aside, because there just aren’t enough events to go to in a new dress every time 🙂 I wish though 🙂

Helena, thank you for the lovely comment! You know a good saying, that once you buy (or make in this case) a dress, the chance to wear it will magically present itself! 😉
