Since we bought a house we have come to realize that it takes a whole lot of time, effort and discussion on how to set it up and make it a dream house for both of us!

The two colors that we chose for the living room is gray and green – it brings so much light through the big windows and green sets an earthy tone. We got a sofa, got a round accent chair and I was desperately wanting to make a throw to go over either one of them. I also wanted to make it special and keep the “earthy” vibe.
By the way, the pillows are also “me-made”
I opted for a 2.5 yard long natural cotton piece that I already had in my fabric stash. The beige speckles look would give it that natural look that I am going for. I picked up 3 pack of RIT dye from Joann’s but ended up using only two. With doing a bit of research about “shibori” on pinterest I was ready to dye. It was pretty easy, took a bit of time – mostly just waiting for the dye to set into the fabric. Other than that – an easy project with a beautiful outcome!
Fabric: 2.5 yds of natural linen (pre-wash it to get any dirt off, as well as making sure that it won’t shrink)
Dye: RIT dye for cotton
Technique: shibori – Japanese tie dye
Sewing: rolled hem edge
I am thinking to make another one – maybe a different design using the same color! Have you ever tried shibori?
